What booking or table spaces does the SLC offer?

The SLC offers table spaces in the Queen’s Centre and Mackintosh-Corry Hall. We also offer room bookings in the Rideau Building. Descriptions for table and room bookings can be found here. SLC offers monthly discounted or free bookings for ratified clubs under AMS. See Club Perks & Offers to learn more.

If I have made a room booking in the Rideau building, how may I access my room?

Keys must be picked up from the Student Life Centre front desk located on the first floor of the Queen’s Centre prior to your booking. The front desk is operational on weekdays (8am-10pm) and weekends (11am-8pm).

Club Perks & Offers

My club is AMS ratified. How do I get an office and/or storage room?

Clubs interested in obtaining office or storage space at the SLC must submit a formal request through the Clubs Office. Applications are reviewed based on availability and the club’s alignment with AMS guidelines. Contact the Clubs Office for details on deadlines and requirements.

What are the club discounts and how may I redeem them?

The SLC offers monthly discounts to ratified clubs, faculty societies, and AMS services. These include:

  • one (1) free 0–4-hour table booking in the Queen’s Centre
  • one (1) free 0–4-hour room booking in the Rideau Building
  • two (2) free 0–4-hour table bookings in Mackintosh-Corry Hall per month
  • Flat rate of $10/week of screen advertising

You must use your club or faculty specific email when making a booking on Skedda to have your monthly discount applied.
The Reservations Assistant Manager will apply your discount on Skedda.

Events & Getting Involved

How does my organization sign up to participate in events?

The Student Life Centre (SLC) hosts various events throughout the academic year, often featuring student businesses, campus clubs, and organizations with different themes. If you are interested in participating, please contact slc.outreach@ams.queensu.ca to be considered for upcoming opportunities.

What are the benefits of being part of these events?

Absolutely! Participating organizations receive a heavily discounted rate and exclusive exposure on our social media platforms, which has 3,000+ followers, helping to boost your visibility within the Queen’s community.

What kinds of events are hosted, and who can participate?

We have hosted a diverse range of events, including:

  • Fundraising Friday
  • Market/Bazaar Events
  • STEM Clubs & Conferences
  • Pride @ Queen’s
  • Queen’s Black Clubs Fair

We aim to organize specific events for AMS ratified clubs, local businesses, and major companies to showcase their opportunities to the Queen’s community.

Key Signouts

  • Keys for the Queen’s Centre: Keys for the Queen’s Centre are stored in the Key Café system. To gain access, clubs must email the Operations Manager to get set up with the system. Once approved, keys can be accessed as needed.
  • Keys for Rideau Rooms: Keys for Rideau Rooms can be signed out directly at the SLC front desk.

Screen Advertising

Which buildings offer screen advertising?

The SLC offers screen advertising on all 3 floors the Queen’s Centre. There are 5 screens throughout the building. 

Poster Advertising

Am I allowed to hang up posters in the Queen’s Centre?

Yes! Posters must be approved to be posted, there are two methods to get your poster approved:
1. Contact the Marketing Manager to pre-approve your poster(s).
2. Provide 3-5 printed copies to the front desk for internal approval

How do I get my posters approved?

Visit the SLC Front Desk located on the 1st floor of the Queen’s Centre to submit up to 3-5 posters for approval. For any inquiries about poster approval, please contact our Marketing Manager.

Where can I print my posters?

Head to AMS Media Centre to get your posters printed. Prices will differ based on page size and type of paper. You can check out AMC’s website for more information.

Locker Rentals

How can I rent or use a locker at the SLC?

Lockers are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. To rent a locker, visit the front desk during staffed hours. You will need to sign a rental agreement and provide a deposit. Rental periods are semester long.

Damaged & Missing Items

If you find any damage or items missing from a room during use, report it immediately to the SLC front desk or the Operations & Sustainability Manager or Managing Director. Documenting issues helps avoid liability and ensures the space is maintained for all users.

Does SLC have a lost & found?

Yes! We have a lost and found for any items that were lost in the Queen’s Centre and returned to us. If you’re looking for missing student cards/identification, please provide another form of identification for verification.

SLC Facilities (Queen’s Centre, Rideau)

How does SLC maintain security of facilties?

Service Staff conduct regular shift tours to check for cleanliness, order, and security. This includes removing unauthorized items, securing windows and doors, and reporting any issues. Users are expected to leave spaces as they found them. Ultimately, lost or damaged items are not SLC responsibility.
